The garlic-shaped hu, originating in Qin’s Shangxi, continued through the Warring States period and Qin Dynasty and remained popular till Western Han Dynasty.

The most common form is with a straight neck and round belly, whereas other combinations such as a sloping neck with round belly or a straight neck with flat body is less seen.
