此印为西魏名将独孤信之印。

煤精（煤的一种，质地致密坚硬）制成，呈8棱26面球体，其中正方形印面18个，三角形印面8个。

有14个正方形印面镌刻印文，内容不同，各有其用途，如“臣信上疏”、“大司马印”、“大都督印”、“刺史之印”、“独孤信白书”、“令”、“密”等。

印文槽书阴刻，书法遒劲挺拔，有浓厚的魏书意趣。

此印反映了主人职多权重的史实，也是研究北朝印玺制度的珍贵资料。

The seal is in a spherical shape with eight ridges, including 18 square facets and 8 triangular facets, its owner was the famous minister of Western Wei Dynasty Dugu xin. 14 square faces bear engraved characters, indicating different functions or titles such as “Humble Xin Present Commander-in-chief”, “Seal of Supervisor-in-chief”,Letter to Your Majesty”, “Seal ofGu Xin’s Handwriting”, “Order”, “Secret,””Seal of Regional Inspector”,” Regular Script”, “Du etc. The characters were inscribed in Regular Script with some elements of Wei Tablet Style, their strokes are vigorous and forceful. The seal suggests the important and powerful status of the owner, providing rare materials for the study of Seal System of the Northern dynasties.
